Help! I can’t get the calculation to work:
14 August 2011 22.45 …. My calculations:
22.45 = Hai (same with daylight savings) = 11
DS = Xin = 8, so
DS 8 X 2 = 16
+ HB (11) = 27
Deduct 2 = 25
= 5 stem = Wu
So WuHai. But the answer is JiHai. I can’t work out where the extra 1 comes from…???

In this case, the birthday is before March – therefore, you need to use the previous year in the formula (Y -1) – 23 instead of 24.
